Ik ken ze al een aantal jaar en heb heel wat met ze afgelachen. Een leuk stel, altijd in voor een etentje, even naar het cafe of wat dan ook.
Een flink aantal maanden terug was ik uit eten met een groep mensen en daar waren ze ook van de partij.
Na het eten, toen de drank inmiddels al rijkelijk gevloeid had kwam ze naast me zitten. Ze babbelde wat over koetjes en kalfjes en toen zei ze ineens: 'Hij gaat vreemd, ik weet het zeker.'
Ik snapte wel waar dat vandaan kwam want ik wist de redenen waarom hij zo vaak van huis weg was. Hij probeerde voor haar een speciale en erg dure verrassing te regelen, iets dat hij in nederland niet voor elkaar kreeg en daarvoor vaak naar het buitenland ging.
Ik heb hem verdedigd zo goed als ik kon zonder dat ik haar exact kon vertellen hoe of wat.

Maar hij loog.

Maanden later kwam ik er pas achter dat hij wel degelijk vreemd ging.  Hij beloofde haar er mee te stoppen. En later nog een keer. En toen weer. En zij bleef hem geloven.

Dit weekend had ik haar aan de telefoon omdat ze het nog steeds niet vertrouwde. Ze had weer een goede reden en hem verdedigen.. ach dat doe ik allang niet meer.

Ze klonk vermoeid. Op. Er zat geen hoop meer in haar stem.

Meisje.. het is over. Face it.
